We are definitely suckers for most things involving lobsters (our father, an oceanographer, started a “Lobster Lab” in our hometown, which, yes, is a lobstering village) so it is no surprise that we were immediately enamored with the crustaceans on Bumble Belly Designs‘s lobster pillow (ok, we love the crab one too!). We then discovered that this shop’s textile prints are inspired by the designer’s summer’s on Cape Cod (ie golf and sailing in addition to sea creatures). Although we (being sailors ourselves) might be particularly enchanted with the words JIBE HO! printed on a pillow, we also love the Old MacDonald collection of adorable farm animals and colorful text. More recently my summer is now filled with weekends at my friends’ family lake house – the epitome of relaxation, sunshine and happiness!
Sunscreen…and GFC…spent every summer there at camp until I was 18.

My favorite summer snapshot would be of my family at the beach. I remember how the vinyl bench seat in our family station wagon would burn my legs after being parked in the sun. How the sand would stick between my toes, the smell of copertone lotion and driving with the windows down. Some days, I wish I could back to that time!
My favorite thing about summer is when the sun goes down at 9 instead of early at 5:30. I love those longs days as a kid so I wouldn’t have to come home early since mom always made me come home when it got dark.

When I used to live in So Calif, driving to work along Pacific Coast Highway every morning along the ocean was beautiful.
Some of my favorite summer memories–well, really, some of my favorite childhood memories–were the times spent at my family’s cottage. During our summer visits we’d swim, fish, go boating, attend local flea markets and craft fairs, grill out, have campfires, relax on the deck, play games, and just enjoy each others company.
I miss that cottage.
My favorite memories of summer are remembering seeing my father early in the morning skimming leaves out of our “cement pond” he built for us….and every kid in the neighborhood. All my best memories of summer are about my dad, he was a helluva man

One great summer memory of mine is when I was a kid growing up in a part of Canada that is semi arid desert, there was a tremendous rain storm one evening, and all the kids in the neirbourhood got out the shampoo (or maybe the moms did?) and we all had a shower in our bathing suits – it was the most fun! Now I live in a very wet area and dread the rain LOL.
Summertime was always filled with outdoor activities -sailing, swimming, bikeriding. Even when the weather didn’t quite cooperate we found things to do. My friend and I began a tradition of collecting, bleaching and painting sand dollars – for some reason people found these amazing. Bad storms decimated the sand dollar population near us, but I’m happy to say they have now returned in time for my own children to be inspired by them.

We used to always drive down to Florida as a family when I was a kid, alot of times to go to Disney. I remember always going to the Shoney’s down there (I wouldn’t necessarily call that a “fond” memory, but a memory nonetheless)!

I miss summer camp! The campfires, the singalongs, the s’mores, etc. There’s some lotion from Victoria’s Secret that I swear smells like Deep Woods Off. I smile everytime I smell it!
One thing about my summers as a child that I really miss is all the vacations we went on and getting to spend a week at my grandparents house (in the country) with my sister but no parents. There’s something about family vacations that can really bring people closer together and those memories are always so cozy feeling!
I’ll be spending it looking for a job, chilling in Chicago and spending as much time with my lovely boyfriend as I can!

Some of my favorite memories were going down to the bay to swim. Lots of seaweed, shells, salty air and the coldest water you ever swam in. I remember it taking at least a half hour to wade out and get acclimated to the water.

one of my favorite memories is of going to my grandparents house. all the grown-ups would sit around singing and playing instruments. My grandpa would be on the accordion, grandma on guitar, others on the banjo, piano, and mandolin. Good times!!

A summer memory for me is visiting the Maine coastline… the feel of the sand between my toes, the warm sunshine and waves pounding on the nearby rocks and the screech of the seagulls overhead (divebombing us for food and pooping anywhere and everywhere-even on us! lol)The weather here in Maine has been miserable and rainy so far, can’t wait to head to the coast soon!

Watching my sister discover lobster for the first time…she was about 2 and kept calling them puppies! She played with them for awhile and then we ate them. That’s the sad part of the story. LOL!

Summer Sailing Camp on Cape Cod: the clanging of halyards against the mast; a whiff of low tide through an open cabin window; flag-raising on foggy mornings, bundled in a sweatshirt and huddled close to my cabinmates; racing (and beating) the boys in yacht club regattas; the smell of pine needles warmed by the sun; All Days at the beach, capped off by a swim in a freshwater pond and a visit to the ice cream stand; Saturday supper: hot dogs, baked beans, and brown bread; singing camp songs after dinner; tangerine sunsets over the bay. Those are my best memories of summer.

Ah, a wonderful summer memory – trying to calm down the sunburn whilst making a BBQ on the balcony. So hot and sunny and we made the most delicious salads and drinks to go with the meat. Sunburn faded as the sun went down, but everyone was a little red in the face!

I would say a great memory of summer was when my family went up the eastern coast from North Carolina to Maine. So many funny stories from that trip that we still talk about today. I remember when I was a kid, we used to go to an isolated island at the beach with the whole family, one of my uncles used to take us there in his boat, and he liked fishing and hunting with a harpoon and preparing it for everyone, it was so much fun, I really used to enjoy those times.
