Inspiration: Rainbows

We (rainbow) heart NY.

However, as our hilarious friend Meg posted on Facebook this weekend:

Of course, if Massachusetts was a hipster state, it would have responded to NY with, “Oh, marriage equality? I mean, I was into it like 7 years ago before it was really a thing, but it’s cool you’re getting into it now.”

We Massholes are thrilled to welcome NY into the club. 6 down, 44 to go.

Man, social change is hard and slow. But as history has shown with women’s suffrage and civil rights, we’ll get there. Ash and James attended a same-sex marriage between two of their dear friends just last weekend, and it was a beautiful, moving, love-filled affair. But when we think about the wedding, we don’t think about it as a “gay” marriage, but as a marriage, as two people who desperately love one another and want to commit themselves to each other for a lifetime.

Because isn’t that what marriage is all about?

Our children’s generation will be able to say, “Wait, there was a time when some people couldn’t get married?” because it’ll be a discrimination they never know.

In honor of one step forward, here is an array of rainbows inspiring our Monday.

Hurray for NY!!!!! With NY being such a large state, maybe some smaller ones will follow suit.

LOVE this post & the pics! My favorite by far! HUGE thanks GEM for tipping your hats to equality! Plus, it just goes to prove that you can have your rainbow cake and eat it too! Woot! Woot!

  • <3 Big hearts to both of you. My heart is so full it feels like it's bursting. Someday Ash and I will be able to turn our domestic partnership into a marriage in the state of Texas. It might be the last state to do it, but I have faith. ;)

  • Look-I just have one question:

    Why the rainbow!!??

It’s funny how it was the symbol that God used in the old testament stating a promise to man(kind) that he would never destroy the earth via a flood again (basically, showing grace upon His creation), bc of the wickedness and corruption of mankind’s sin-but all y’all decided to take said symbol, and “make it” your own and pervert the very meaning of why the rainbow was shown to Noah to begin with. (basically, spitting in the face of His grace) Oh how wicked and deceitful our hearts really are. (& yes I’m including myself)

Now before you all start “pick and axe-ing” my words note this: I never said I’m anti-gay (or Christian)-nor would I ever associate myself with any anti-gay picketers (aka Westborogh people) it’s just a simple question. So don’t start your rants saying I’m being judgemental when that statement in it of itself is judgmental as well.

  • Yes, rainbows! That massive tree, wrapped in colorful yarn, made my day (ahem, my night, I should be in bed).
