Design: July

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, y’all! We hope that everyone has a BBQ and firework filled 4th. What are your plans to celebrate America’s Birthday? Ash is headed to the annual James Taylor concert at Tanglewood while Kimmy will be attending a beach side lobster bake. Sunny will be rocking many a patriotic ensemble and eating her weight in red and blue Jell-O stars. We hope yours is equally as delightful!

We’re switching up this month’s design post and sharing with you the awesomeness that is The Curiosity Group. They’ve created this brilliant pop up calendar that encapsulates all things summer in honor of the Month of July. To make your own, head on over to the site, download, print, cut, fold, glue, and be the envy of all your co-workers! (Plus, you can check out all the past calendars, which are sickeningly awesome).

Ash had a lot of fun building one for her abode. How convenient that her daughter’s Play Mobile characters matched the lawn chairs so brilliantly.

Design: June

This month we bring you some fabulously quirky illustrations from The Pattern Maker. Talk about seeing stars (and flowers, skulls, and safety pins!). Subtle colors combined with outrageously playful designs (check out “Whales with Candy“) make these prints eccentric and unique. Each print is an original illustration completed in ink then digitally colored. They seem as whimsical as June should be.

Design: May

While Ash was scouting ’round Etsy for raindrop, umbrella, rainbow explosion inspiration for the girls’ bedroom, she came across the sweet little shop, la-tee-doe. She immediately fell for Angie’s whimsical illustrations, particularly with her nod to our soft spot, adorable robots. We promptly asked her if she’d design one our of monthly desktop/Twitter backgrounds. Lucky for all of us, she agreed! Could this design be more perfect for the month of May? We thought not.

Design: April

Kimmy first became smitten with StrawberryLuna when she was looking for rad band poster design on Etsy. Allison’s Rock Posters are rockin’ indeed. She graciously agreed to design April’s desktop/Twitter background, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to showcase her work. She tugged at Ash’s heartstrings by using her Whale design, as Ash will be giving the Sesame Seed the middle name “Whaley” (a family name on James’ side).

Ash has been eying her Alphabet prints for the girls’ room for sometime. If only she had a wall big enough to fit all 26! It’ll be tough to choose just a handful. And we both agree that our friends, Darlingside, should hire Allison to design a poster for the band. Her style has such range, and we are hooked. Check out her shop for the full spread of her work.
